The UHealth Fitness & Wellness Center is kicking off its 10th anniversary celebration this week, with a month-long series of giveaways, fitness challenges, workshops and seminars. For its 10th anniversary, the UHealth Fitness & Wellness Center will have product giveaways, healthy snack days, and fun surprises for members, with new activities announced every week.
Mindful Tuesdays is a weekly program sponsored by the University of Miami Mind Body Medical Group, in partnership with the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center, the Department of Public Health Sciences and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Program.
While corporate America in general is taking small steps to promote employee wellness —such as providing gym discounts or smoking-cessation workshops — hospitals, conscious of their mission to promote health, are realizing they cannot overlook their own employees’ health.

Nonetheless, when Michael Montero, first-shift receptionist, and Miguel Figueroa, first-shift wellness instructor, arrive each weekday morning to open the recently renamed UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center, located on the 9th floor of the Clinical Research Building, the same group of guys is already waiting to get in and get started.
Scott Levin, a leader in campus recreation and wellness, has been appointed executive director of the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center and the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center. Levin starts full-time on August 22.
