JOIN TEAM UM!

Dust off those sneakers! It’s time to begin training for the 23rd Annual MIAMI Mercedes-Benz Corporate Walk/Run benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The 5K (3.1 miles) walk/run will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2008 beginning at 6:45 p.m. at Bayfront Park, downtown Miami. Your Wellness Center staff is working hard to make this year’s Team UM experience reach beyond any offered by our university in past years. The UM team has doubled in size over the last eleven years and we hope this tradition continues.

Here are some of the exciting plans:

An oversized UM tent to accommodate more food, drinks, and fun. Post-race raffle prize drawings.
All Team UM participants will be eligible to win a variety of prizes, but must be present to win. Office Party Challenge. The department that recruits the most team participants will win a pizza party, compliment of PIZZA HUT. Can your department out-do last year’s winner, the winner was Gables One and the team captain was Sharon Howard? Don’t wait! Accept the office party challenge by becoming a team captain and signing up co-workers, friends, and family members.
Closing ceremonies. A ceremony for TEAM UM will follow the race. Winners of the following categories will receive special recognition: fastest male and fastest female in three age categories, 30 and under, 31 - 49, and 50 and over.

Last year, the UM men’s team took 1st place in the Education Division while Team UM contributed toward its 10-year T-shirt design winning streak. GO CANES! This is one of the biggest events of the year for University employees, so sign up now! We encourage all participants to register ONLINE. 2008 Online Registration: go to webpage, follow instructions:

Registration Options: Choose option ‘C’ (Fast) and then click on ‘Guest Access.’
Select a Category
Choose ‘Join your Corporate Team’
Read the waiver and check the ‘I agree to the above waiver’ box
If you are over 18, type your initials in the ‘Initials’ box. If under 18, type the initials of your parent or guardian.
Check the box at the end of the sentence stating ‘By checking this box, I agree that I am 13 or older.’
Click ‘Continue’
Select a Company
Click on the drag down box and select ‘University of Miami – Medical Campus’
Company Password: gocanes
Complete the remaining information fields (Note: Some of the information fields are optional and not required for registration)
Click ‘Continue’ to open the payment page and complete your registration

2008 Offline Registration Form: print a copy of the registration form, complete and return it along with your check or money order payable to: Team Footworks.

If you register (online or offline) after April 21st, you will be required to pick-up your race packet from the TeamFootworks location in South Miami (call 305-666-RACE) for driving directions.
